The Department offers Masters in Social Work (M.S.W).
Salient Features of the Course Content
Apart from the regular academic work in the campus, field work is an integral part of the training programme. Classroom instruction and fieldwork are arranged on a concurrent basis. Internship after the second semester exams and one whole month of block placement after the fourth semester exams are also a part of the fieldwork. The students are exposed to the welfare organizations, community development projects, industries and hospitals to understand their working methodology and the whole of the organization which in turn enhance the capacity and skill of the student.
The department organizes a rural camp for 8 days in the first semester. The students live in the rural community for these days and to organize programmes for them under the close supervision of the staff. This will enable the students to understand the rural life, the joy’s and sorrow’s of them, their needs and means to fulfill them.
The students are taken to a study tour for 8 days to the places of importance, organizations in other states to get an idea of their working.
People management skills and knowledge management skills are crucial to the success of the organization. To impart these skills the department uses multiple methods like lectures, class room presentations, book reviews, weekly seminars, case studies and analysis, group dynamics and discussions, guest lectures, project assignments, quiz competitions, study visits, role play and paper presentations.
