Association Activities
2010-2011
The Commerce Association was inaugurated on 4th August 2010 by Mr.S.R. Ramaswami, CEO, Intellect SEEC and he spoke on the topic “Strategic Support and Turnaround” and Viveka Knowledge Centre was inaugurated by Br. Bodhatma Chaitanya, Evening College In-charge.
A one day lecture was organized on 12th August 2010 on the topic “India as an Emerging Nation”. Dr. V. Varadharajan spoke about emerging trends in Indian economy.
On 6th September 2010, Mr. A.M. Balasubramanian and Mrs. Vidya Vasudevan of Stock Holding Corporation of India gave a presentation on “Demat Account and Stock Broking”.
2009-2010
Budget presentation was given by Dr. R. Anand Partner Ernst and Young on the 4th of March 2010. He analyzed the budget and gave a vivid picture and salient features to the students.
Student Activities
Ankur Bahua and G. Venkatsubramaniam are selected for a discussion on ‘Anti-Corruption’ with Kiran Bedi at D.G. Vaishnav College.
2008-2009
As part of the activities of the Commerce Association, an Inter Collegiate commerce meet called High Stakes was held on the 25th of March 2009. Over 10 Colleges and 15 departments participated in 10 events.
Faculty Activities
Dr. S. Guruswamy, Guest Lecturer of our department has produced two Ph.D.s in the academic year 2008-09, Chaired a technical session at Vels University, published two more books entitled Indian Financial System and Global Financial Institutions by Tata McGraw Hill.
