Association Activities
2011-12
The Association Activities was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. T. C. Santiago, Principal Scientist (Retd), Central Institute of Brackish Water and Aquaculture (CIBA), Chennai in august presence of Swami Abhiramanandaji Maharaj, Br. Bodhatmachaitanya on 17.08.2011. The chief guest gave a wonderful and vibrant speech on Introduction to Nucleic acids with reference to PCR.
2010-11
The Biochemistry Association was inaugurated on 22nd July, 2010, by Dr.Mahadeva Rao, Research Coordinator, Department of Chemistry, Tepzi University, Ethiopia, who then delivered a speech on “Nutrition and its role in Diabetes mellitus”.
An intra Departmental Competition was organized by our Department on 15th September, 2010.
A series of students’ seminar were held on 6th and 18th August, 8th September, 6th October, 2010 and 4th March 2011, in which all I, II and III year students participated and presented seminars.
The Biochemistry association organized seminars by eminent professors Dr. Gurumurthi Natarajan of GREEN THUMB-AGRI BUSINESS and Dr.T.S.Suriyanarayanan of VINSTROM, RKM Vidyapith, on 2nd September 2011 and 23rd February 2011, respectively.
A speech by Dr.Vis Niranjan, M.D., of RXMD, Strategic Execution in Clinical Development, Chennai on “A single metabolic pathway to study multiple diseases” was organised on 9th March 2011.
A Talk by Dr.DylanEdwards, Head of School, Professor, Chair of Cancer Studies, School of Biological Sciences, UEA, Norwich, UK and Dr. Grant Wheeler, Senior Lecturer in Cell & Developmental Biology at University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK, have given a talk on “Sustainable Agriculture, Biotechnology and Molecular medicine”, was organized on 17th February 2011.
Cancer Awareness Campaign and career guidance camps were conducted in and around Chennai over 14 schools during the period of 7th to 20th of January 2011.
An exhibition inside the college premises was conducted through display of Posters and Models to create awareness on cancer on 4th February 2011.
The Biochemistry Association along with the Zoology Association celebrated Science day through seminar by students on “Pesticide Pollution” and an awareness seminar on “Endosulphan toxicity” by a member of THANAL, NGO, Kerala, on 28th February 2011.
The Biochemistry association valedictory function held on 5.04.2011, in which Biovision an in-house magazine was released by Br.Bhodatmachaitanya Maharaj and first copy was being received by Dr.Niranjali Devaraj, Head (syndicate member), Department of Biochemistry, University of Madras. She had also given a talk on career guidance.
