Student Activities (Evening College)
Religious Instruction
Religious instruction is given to all students of this College during the first period on every Friday. These classes are inaugurated every year by the President of the Ramakrishna Math, Chennai. The religion classes start with the chanting of the Purusha Suktham, the Narayana Sukta, the Bhruguvalli, Sikshavalli, Sanyasa Yoga and the College prayer, followed by devotional songs and two minutes of silent meditation. After the chanting, there will be lectures on the lives and teachings of the Holy Trinity and of Swami Ramakrishnananda (Sashi Maharaj).
In all these classes, attendance will be taken and absence from these classes will be viewed seriously. The College celebrates the birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, the Holy Mother, Swami Vivekananda and Sashi Maharaj in these prayer meetings.
At the end of the course, an examination in religion for all the classes will be conducted to decide the award of prizes in religion.
Vivekananda Study Circle
The Study Circle was inaugurated in 1974 with a view to inspire the staff and students of this College with the ideals of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda. A regular study of the Ramakrishna - Vivekananda literature and other important Hindu scriptures is done under the inspiring guidence of the Rector Maharaj. The student wing is studying Life and Works of Swami Vivekananda. Students who attend classes regularly will get a certificate at the end. Classese are generally held once or twice a week during lunch recess. Those who want to join the Study Circle may contact the Professor-in-charge of the Study Circle.
Magazine
VIDYA Magazine: Apart from providing intellectual, physical, cultural and religious training to the students, the College brings out through this Magazine the latent creative talents of promising youth by encouraging them to produce creative works of art and also share their knowledge with others.The Magazine is a record of all the activities-curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular, that take place in a year.
