Achivements
Sri V.R. Kalyanasundara Sastrigal has published some of his original works, exposition etc. through the College Magazine. The PG Department celebrated its silver jubilee by organising a seminar and the proceedings were published. So too the proceedings of All India Seminar on Golden age of Sanskrit a conference conducted by the Department of Sanskrit with UGC funds were published. Most of the present staff members of the Department are engaged in Publication and Editing work, the details of which are given in the Input.
Awards, Titles by Government of India
The Government of India awards a certificate known as “The President’s Certificate of Honour for Proficiency in Sanskrit”. Prof. V.S. Venkataraghavachariyar, Prof. V.R. Kalyanasundara Sastrigal, Prof. R.N. Sampath and Prof. V. Venkatachalam have been awarded this certificate of merit by the President of India. Dr. N. Veezhinathan has been conferred with President’s award announced during the Independence Day Celebrations 2002. He is the first alumnus of our Department to get this award. Dr.M.Narasimhachari, Dr.Lakshmi Tatachar Alumni of our department also had been conferred with this award. Government of India has also conferred the title of “Padmashri” on Prof. V. Venkatachalam. Dr.C.S.Radhakrishnan, had been given the title Samskrita Ratna by Dharmakesari Solar KS Subramaniya Iyyar Trust, Chennai.
